Full description
The original Feltwell sword was found in 1961 hidden in the hypocaust beneath the floor of a Roman villa near Feltwell, Norfolk. It survives only in fragments, and is believed to be among the earliest swords of its type to survive in Britain. When Roman authority withdrew from Britain in the early 5th century, it left behind a complex landscape of settlers, mercenaries and raiders, and a sword like this one belongs to that transition.
This Deepeeka interpretation works from the surviving blade evidence and from comparable Migration Period finds. The C60 high-carbon steel blade reflects current thinking on the materials and proportions of the period. It suits collectors, living historians and re-enactors focused on the 5th century.
Class: Display and re-enactment. The blade is not heat-treated and the edge is unsharpened.
