Full description
This sword replicates an original in the Musée de l'Armée in Paris, dated to the mid-10th to mid-11th century (Petersen Type X). The original was part of a four-piece Viking sword collection sold at Sotheby's in London on 1 November 1984, as lot 103. Its blade bears the Ulfberht inscription on one face and the marking DUNA+DUNA XX on the reverse, which historians think may be an abbreviated phrase or a lucky charm.
This reproduction has etched copies of both inscriptions. It suits collectors of Viking Age ironwork and inscribed blades.
Class: Display and re-enactment. The edge is unsharpened.
