Early Crusader Trefoil Nasal Helm – 20 Gauge Steel

The nasal helmet is identified by its projecting nose guard, a single metal strip that extends down to protect the nose and centre of the face. The type was used across Western Europe from the late 9th to the 12th century. The Normans made it famous through the Bayeux Tapestry, but it appeared across Western Europe before their conquests. This trefoil profile reflects the helmets worn on the early Crusades.

It is a lightweight reproduction in 20-gauge steel, with a triple-riveted brass nasal bar, a blackened interior, an adjustable leather suspension lining and a leather tie chin strap. It is intended for non-contact re-enactment, costume and faire use, display on a stand, and film and theatre. It is not made for contact fighting.
