Full description
An iron sword with a scabbard of early Saxon origin was found in place in the hypocaust of a Roman villa at Feltwell, Norfolk, in 1961. It is believed to be the earliest of its type to survive in Britain, and archaeologists suppose it was brought over by the first Anglian settlers, or perhaps raiders.
This Deepeeka spatha reproduces the sword in its longer form, with a wooden pommel, guard and handle, a peened and top-nut assembly, and a leather-covered wooden scabbard.
Class: Display and re-enactment. The blade is not heat-treated and the edge is unsharpened.
