Fenrir Viking Shield – 32 Inch, Rawhide Rim

A hand-painted Viking round shield with the wolf Fenrir in Norse knotwork and his name in Elder Futhark runes beneath the boss. Fenrir, child of Loki and Angrboda, was one of three monstrous foes of the gods; bound by them at the cost of Tyr's hand, he breaks free at the end and devours Odin before Odin's son Víðarr kills him.

The plywood face has a tightly stitched rawhide rim and an antiqued steel boss with room for a large hand. On the back, three riveted wooden bars reinforce the shield, and the central bar, wrapped in leather, is the grip. It suits living history, wall display, Norse-themed decor and costume.
