Petersen's Type A is among the earliest axe forms in his 1919 typology, in use until roughly 840 AD. It is defined by small, symmetrical spurs at the eye, a slender contracting neck, and a broad, symmetrical blade with no bearded extension - a straightforward, functional shape typical of the earlier Viking Age before the more elaborate bearded and lobed forms developed.
Deepeeka recreates this early Petersen Type A profile as a plain, undecorated head, letting the honest, functional silhouette of the type speak for itself.
