Petersen Viking Type B Axe (Bearded)

Petersen's Type B dates to about 600–840 AD and has low, pointed spurs, a slender neck and a distinctly curved, bearded blade. The extended lower edge is more than decorative: it let the owner choke up close to the head for fine control, with the curve offering some protection to the hand, and it added cutting surface without much extra weight.

Deepeeka leaves the head plain so the clean lines of the type speak for themselves. The C60 high-carbon steel head sits directly on the haft, secured with a heavy rivet and a steel wedge for a tight, lasting fit. Knotted, riveted bands of vegetable-tanned leather and a spiralled leather grip finish the haft.
