Petersen's Type B dates to roughly 600-840 AD and is defined by low-profile, pointed spurs, a slender neck, and a distinctly curved, bearded blade - the extended lower edge that gives the 'bearded axe' its name. That extended beard served a real purpose beyond its looks: it let a Viking Age owner choke up close to the head for fine control work, with the curve of the beard offering some protection to the hand, and it added extra cutting surface without adding significant extra weight to swing.
Deepeeka recreates this early bearded profile true to Petersen's Type B proportions.
