This sword is based on a notable Viking Age find from Kildonan on the Isle of Eigg, Scotland, where an elaborately decorated bronze hilt was recovered while the original blade did not survive. Dated to the 9th or early 10th century, the find is now associated with collections including the National Museum of Scotland. The find is believed to come from a burial context, indicating both martial and symbolic importance; swords of this calibre were not common possessions but prestige items reflecting wealth, influence, and access to skilled craftsmanship, with intricate geometric and animal-inspired motifs on the hilt reinforcing its elite status within Viking society.
Part of our premium Primus range, Deepeeka's reproduction reflects these historical references closely, recreating the multi-part hilt construction of the original artefact.
A premium piece for collectors interested in Viking Age Scotland and high-status Norse metalwork.
