Part of the Primus premium range, recreating the ornate cast bronze hilts of the Petersen Type D classification, among the earliest and most visually striking Viking Age sword forms.
Petersen Type D swords are among the earliest classified Viking sword forms, typically dated to the 9th and early 10th centuries and found across Scandinavia and the wider Viking-influenced world. The type is defined by its distinctive tri-lobed pommel, with a raised central lobe flanked by two lower ones, mounted on a solid, heavily built hilt assembly. Surviving examples are frequently recovered from burial contexts and associated with high-status individuals; the broad blade and wide fuller point to a sword built as much to project authority as to cut.
Part of our premium Primus range, this piece is developed with close adherence to these historical characteristics, replicating the traditional multi-part pommel construction of the originals rather than a simplified modern assembly, and handcrafted by Deepeeka to museum-reference standard.
A premium collector's piece, well suited to display, gifting, and serious Viking Age collections.
