A triple-lobed sword features a distinctive pommel consisting of three rounded lobes. Popularized between the 9th and 11th centuries, these Norse weapons were forged with a wide, fullered blade and short crossguard, perfectly designed for historical hacking and slashing.
Our 3 Lobe Viking Sword, or Type III sword, is based on a late Viking design from around the 11th century and is contemporary with the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. A similar sword was found on Canwick Common in Norfolk and is now held in the British Museum collection.
The three-lobed pommel is a recognised Viking Age hilt form, reflecting the era's varied approach to pommel decoration and status display, and appears alongside the five- and seven-lobed variants across Petersen's broader typology of Norse sword hilts.
One of Deepeeka's more refined designs, offered complete with an integrated, adjustable sword belt as part of our Viking heritage range.
A practical, ready-to-wear piece for living history groups, and a striking display item for collectors.
