Full description
The long seax, or langseax, is the most developed form of the seax family in the early medieval period. Associated with both Anglo-Saxon and Viking cultures, it bridges the gap between the everyday utility knife and a warrior's dedicated sidearm.
This example has a Type G hilt, a classification within Anglo-Saxon typology defined by its guard and pommel construction. Unlike simpler seaxes, the guard reflects a move toward more serious use, giving better hand protection and control.
The long, single-edged blade emphasises cutting power, with a thick spine for durability. Its extended length let it serve as a primary sidearm, especially in Anglo-Saxon England, where long seaxes were carried by warriors of status as both weapon and marker of identity.
Deepeeka's reproduction is designed for stage presentation and reenactment: hand-forged, with a blunt edge and reinforced construction.
