Viking Nasal Helm – 14 Gauge Steel

The nasal helmet is identified by its projecting nose guard, a single metal strip that extends down to protect the nose and centre of the face. It was used across Western Europe from the late 9th to the 12th centuries. The Normans made it famous through the Bayeux Tapestry, but it appeared in Western Europe before their conquests, and it lasted longer among archers, who needed a wider field of vision.

This wearable reproduction is made of 14-gauge mild steel, heavier than our 18-gauge helmets. It suits living history and re-enactment, display on a stand, historical fairs, film and theatre.
