Petersen's Type C spans a remarkably long period, from the Roman Iron Age through to the 900s AD, and is most commonly found in Sweden and Norway. It lacks the projecting spurs seen on later types, instead carrying a large projection at the end of the neck, with a straight upper edge on an otherwise bearded blade - one of the longer-lived and more geographically concentrated forms in Petersen's typology.
Deepeeka's reproduction finishes both faces of the head with etched Norse knotwork, a decorative treatment consistent with the broader Viking Age tradition of engraving, punching, and inlaying axeheads recorded on archaeological finds from Scandinavia and beyond.
